My mother and I both stayed at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge as we trekked 2 days with the gorillas, its a good start for gorilla trekking our cottage was comfortable and clean. Food was delicious and vegetarian available. Local villagers came to sing & dance. Accommodations were large and baths were nice and original, closet with safe, fireplace, 2 beds (in ours). The staff is great and always very helpful. They clean your boots after a gorilla trekking. High altitude gave crisp clean air and cool temps so perfect time for trekking. Suggest packing very light for gorillas trek with long pants, gloves, long sleeve shirts. No mosquitoes when we were there except in the wet areas of the forest and the fields surrounding the park. Would go back in a flash and stay here again for longer time period and enjoy other activities around the area. Felt safe and well protected.
I was traveling back from doing service in Gisenyi and treated myself to two nights here and a gorilla trek. It was fantastic. The rooms are big, indoor showers and bathroom was a plus at that point of my month long trip. Nice buffet for meals. Nice lounge and bar to hang. Internet wasn’t good but conversation with travelers was fantastic. I wasn’t feeling well and the eucalyptus they burn in the fireplace wasn’t good for me, so many a hot water bottles were given. That was the best! Cozy comforters and nice sheets. I felt well taken care of after my 4 hours of trekking for gorillas, which was incredible. They took the boots right off me when I came back and cleaned them. Hot water bottles, hot food, and friendly smiles. I would definetly stay again and again!
My husband and I had a wonderful experience at this lodge. The lodge is very convenient to go Gorilla trekking…a short drive to the check in location!Other than being super convenient we found the staff to be very welcoming and friendly. The meals were great, many delicious and fresh options available. You can tell the staff enjoy making your experience the best possible. Our cabin was very cozy, comfortable and clean. It was a nice addition to have a real fire place to stay warm at night as it gets quite chilly after sunrise. We would highly recommend staying at this lodge if you are booked to see the Gorillas. Big thank you to the staff for making our first visit to Rwanda amazing!! We look forward to returning again ? We wanted to share one red flag…the owner told us that on our final day he would give us a drive and tour of some memorial sights etc en route back to Kigali (for a fee of course!). We were very excited and thought this was a nice offering however it turned into him driving us around while he did his errands. He did not show us any of the memorials or sights which was very disappointing and got us to our other hotel too late to even get dinner. Although he pulled these shenanigans we still would recommend his lodge (as mentioned his staff are amazing!), however beware the owner with his ‘deals’ and grande tour ideas! Stayed June 2014, traveled as a couple
We stayed @ the Le Bambou with recommendation from our Gorilla tour company. The service was excellent, the food is not bad and our room was unique. The lodge has guards on site 24/7, Our room has no heat, it gets cold at night, so they made fire for us and gave us couple hot water bottles to put in our bed to keep us warm. Each night, the a local dance group would show up and give us some entertainment. When we arrived back from the trek, they would take our muddy shoes/gaiters and clean them…that was a nice surprise! This lodge has a potential to be alot nicer . I would recommend they trim up the plants/bamboo around the compound, upgrade the main lodge, fix the bathroom experience (water is everywhere after a nice hot shower) and fix the wifi (the wifi didn’t work the entire time we were there).
We stayed at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge for 2 nights and appreciated it.The rooms(cottages) are clean, like the rest of the hotel are spotlessly clean. The lodge has a big hall which serves as a bar and restaurant. As I am a smoker they had a special area for smokers. The bed was comfortable and we didn’t notice much noise from outside despite staying on a busy weekend. The breakfast was continental. However, the rest of the meals was delicious and tasty. The staff were very friendly and accommodating throughout great value and interest towards me and my wife..
We stayed at Le Bambou on our recent trip to Rwanda to see the gorillas. It was a welcome place and the staff and owner make it a great stop. They attended to our every need (fires and hot water bottles in cabins, umbrellas handy when it rained, cleaned our shoes when we returned from hike). Visiting the gorillas was an unforgettable experience. Le Bambou made it even more enjoyable. Stayed October 2014, traveled with friends
